Dyeing in ancient times
Natural dyeing of clothes has a long history and was already used in ancient times. Between the 4th and 2nd millennium BC, dyeing processes based on plant dyes were then practiced in India. India thus had a monopoly in the production of dyed textiles. From the 15th/16th century, the technique for finishing garments then spread to Europe. The dyeing of clothes, which had become increasingly fashionable over the centuries, received a severe setback in the 19th century with the discovery of chemical dyes. Synthetically produced dyes were comparably relatively readily available and cheaper. This paved the way, at the expense of natural dyes, for many chemical processes for dyeing textiles. The birth and use of synthetically based dyes has made the textile industry one of the most polluting industries in the world.

The bright spot: today, garment dyeing with natural dyes is experiencing something of a renaissance. Due to high demand, some companies have allowed the old tradition of natural dyeing to be reinstated and are once again exploring the cultivation, harvesting and processing of natural dyes.
The power of nature

Natural dyes - Unbeatable in environmental friendliness
The production and extraction of the natural dyes is done without the help of hazardous chemicals and is 100% environmentally friendly. Pesticides or pollutants are not needed and the raw materials are biodegradable. In comparison, the production of artificial dyes requires immense amounts of water and the use of hazardous chemicals. It is estimated that textile dyeing and treatment accounts for 17-20% of industrial pollution. Millions of people are exposed to these harmful chemicals on a daily basis and in direct contact, usually without the required safety equipment. We would like to offer our customers another possibility to have their products manufactured by us in an even more environmentally friendly and sustainable way.
